The British Burn Association (BBA) and the International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI) are teaming up. They will hold the 22nd ISBI Congress and the BBA’s 55th Annual Meeting. The theme for this years congress is “Exchanging Knowledge to Improve Burn Care Around the World – Facing the Future.”

Kerecis will be attending the International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI) Congress and the British Burn Association (BBA) Meeting taking place in Birmingham 18 Agust to 22 August 2024.

Prof. Lars-Peter Kamolz
Lars Peter Kamolz is a Board-Certified Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgeon (ÖGPÄRC). In 2012, he became a Professor of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery at the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery, Medical University of Graz and Head of the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery, Medical University of Graz, Austria. Furthermore, he is the Head of the Research Unit for Safety and Sustainability in Healthcare and Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the LKH-University Hospital in Graz. Since 2018 he is also Director of COREMED – Cooperative Center for regenerative Medicine at Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH. He has studied Medicine at the University of Vienna, Medical School, Vienna, Austria (M.D.). Moreover, he has studied Quality and Management at the Department for Knowledge and Communication Management at Danube University in Krems, Austria (M.Sc.). He is a Certified Quality Manager, EOQ Quality Systems Manager, Certified Risk Manager, EFQM Assessor, and Auditor for Quality Management Systems.

Lt. Col. Prof. Steven Jeffery
Lt. Col. Prof. Steven Jeffery joined the Royal Army Medical Corps as a medical student in 1986. He qualified from the Universities of St Andrews and Manchester in 1989 and served as a Medical Officer with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders before completing his basic surgical training, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and of Glasgow. Most notably, he has completed three operational tours of duty in both Northern Ireland and Afghanistan.
Since then, he became specialist in plastic surgery with a particular interest in treating burns and soft tissue injuries. In addition to being a Professor of Wound Study at Birmingham City University, he co-founded the Woundcare 4 Heroes charity, which addresses wound care of both serving and veteran personnel and is regularly involved in numerous humanitarian missions around the world, including the recent Armenian fuel tanker explosion.

Prof. Bong-Sung Kim
Prof. Bong-Sung Kim is currently the Surgical Chief of the Burn Center and Senior Consultant at the Department of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery of the University Hospital Zurich.
He is a board-certified plastic surgeon and hand surgeon, a past microsurgery fellow at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan and strongly focusses on the microsurgical reconstruction of burn victims. Beyond his clinical interest, Bong-Sung Kim is PI and investigator of several randomized clinical trials and has a particular interest in cytokine biology and tissue engineering.

Dr. Habib Ur Rahman Qasim
Paediatric Surgeon, Habib ur Rahman Qasim is Chief and founder of the Paediatric Burn care department at Indera Gandhi Institute of child health, Kabul. It is the first and only centre to serve around 40 million population of Afghanistan, with his department treating around 1000 acute burn patients per year.
Despite growing up and studying in his war-torn country, he remains positive and professional within this challenging environment.
He has been involved in supporting the development of burns services over the last 10 years, being very fortunate to work alongside such leaders within the field as Prof. Clemmens Schiestl, Prof. Martin Meuli, Prof. Matt Donelan, and Prof. Naeim Moimen. In addition, Dr Qasim is a member of ECPB and Interburns, and has presented at several international meetings and Congresses worldwide.
In 2017, Habib was awarded the prestigious prize of Zora Janzekovič at World Congress for paediatric burns in Birmingham, UK, honouring his outstanding work in the field of burn care, especially under difficult circumstances.
